Hello! My name is Alex Hollingsworth. I am a dedicated and innovative music tutor, who aims to inspire musicians and producers to improve their craft through positive, captivating teaching.

I have worked for four years as a Studio and Technical Manager and mentor at Tileyard Education, a postgraduate music facility and studio based in London. I therefore understand the importance of clear guidance in both an educational and professional environment.

My teaching experience includes:

  • Holding group masterclasses for post-graduate students in music theory, harmony, arrangement, music production and Avid’s Sibelius.

  • One-to-one lessons in music theory, harmony, arrangement, production and mixing for students ranging from GCSE – post-graduate level.

  • Guitar and piano lessons for a wide range of ages and abilities (grades 1 – 8), covering genres such as jazz, pop, rock, flamenco and classical.

  • Online production and music technology tutorials for Tileyard Education.

  • Acting as a mentor to post-graduate students on industry song-writing camps, providing feedback on mixing, songwriting and production of tracks being pitched to major labels.

  • Mentoring new bands and artists, assisting with songwriting, production, guitar playing, piano playing and career development.

About Me

In addition to tutoring, I have been working as a professional musician, producer, session guitarist and musical director in the industry for four years.

I have composed and produced music for BBC documentaries, award-winning films, major commercial labels (including Universal and Warner) and promotional videos for world-renowned brands like Nike and HSBC. I approach my work with a versatile mindset and have worked on projects which span the genre spectrum, from electro-pop productions to classical guitar compositions.

Having been based at Tileyard London as a Studio and Technical Manager for four years, I have had considerable experience of commercial studio practice and audio engineering and have worked on recording sessions for a number of established artists including Sam Smith, Sigala, Ella Eyre and Jax Jones among others.

I have composed, arranged and orchestrated a number of film and TV scores and have worked on compositions with ensembles ranging from 40-piece orchestras to string quartets. This has led to projects with the likes of Spitfire Audio, working on their ‘BBC Symphony Orchestra Library’ and ‘Cello Quartet’ sample packs.

As a session musician, I have acted as a musical director, guitarist, keyboard player and bassist for several artists such as Charlotte OC, Samantha Harvey, Mega, and Carrie Baxter, playing shows across Europe and the US. This has included directing full band festival gigs at South by South West Festival in Texas, playing acoustic sessions live on German radio in Berlin and performing at many of London's most celebrated venues such as King’s Place and Cadogan Hall.
