Alice Experienced Primary Teacher in all areas QTS

  • Online Tuition
  • Qualified Teacher

Hi, I'm Alice and I am a Primary School teacher. I have spent 5 years teaching in Brighton and have just recently moved up to Glasgow, I went to university here and love the city so much. While I wait for things to get back to normal and out of lockdown, I'd love to help children catch up with their work online.

For my undergraduate degree I studied Theatre Studies and English Language at Glasgow University for 4 years. I've travelled through a lot of countries and I've been lucky enough to live and teach in India, Japan and Sri lanka.

I am a strong primary teacher and would love to help parents and carers out with their home-schooling during these challenging times. I'd be happy to tutor in whatever subject nessecary and will work around your timetable.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Alice

During the past four years, my teaching practice has been deemed as strong, in all my formal and informal observations, by members of the SLT team at my current school, in all core subjects and the humanities. Over the past two years, my teaching practice has been observed by less experienced teachers as a model for ‘Quality First Teaching’. In addition to this, I was involved in a maths trail study, where I was paired with another teacher and member of the SLT. This study involved observations by the team and planning and assessing the lessons observed. This trail was then rolled out across our school’s cluster, which includes 15 schools. Throughout my teaching practice, I have been involved in planning, teaching and assessment for all year groups in KS2 across all core and foundation subjects. It has been noted on several occasions that my planning is creative and fun and my personality and love for teaching and learning is infectious to the children and the team I work within. Whilst teaching, I utilise formal and informal assessment to ensure that every child makes progress within each lesson. I use assessment for learning to gage where children are at and where they need to go next. At the end of each lesson, I use assessment of learning to assess how much progress the children have made and use this to inform my planning for the next lesson. Working in Year 6, I have also had considerable experience of assessing internal and external data for government tests. Behaviour management one of my strengths. In every class I have taught there have been several high profile children. I have used many nurturing strategies to help children feel safe and calm in the classroom. This has helped the children both socially and academically. I have built relationships with parents to help support the children within school and have worked with vulnerable families on a performing arts project. This initiative helped the children feel more confident and gave them the opportunity to be part of activities that they would not normally have access to. It also provided the opportunities for families to spend time together participating in fun activities.
