I first began tutoring five years ago, when I began my journey in education as a 1:1, a Learning Support Assistant, in a primary school in Cardiff. This role allowed me the opportunity to support students with additional needs, progressing on to become a trained English teacher in Secondary education.

I listen to and respect each learner's views and opinions, and I love to learn from my students too. I hold high expectations for each learner and embed secure routines in each lesson to form a foundation for the professional relationship and learning experience. I love to praise my students for their achievements and effort, which contributes to a warm, nonjudgmental and safe culture.

I believe that the foundation of every classroom should be the relationship between the tutor and the learner. This relationship should be based on mutual respect, positivity and safety. A successful tutor should be the expert in the classroom and should appropriately guide students to create mental links between previous knowledge and new knowledge and support the transition to independent practice. Feedback should be a continuous process, personalised and constructive.

I bring warmth, humour and positivity to the classroom. I hold high expectations and learners respond to this, learning to challenge and push themselves to promote their own progress. I use praise appropriately, as well as insightful and meaningful feedback.

About Me

As a qualified English Teacher, I have over four years of experience in the classroom, ranging from Early Years to GCSE. I have experience with different exam boards and with a variety of texts. I am offering tutoring between KS1 and KS4; my typical length of lesson is one hour. I have a passion for creating innovative and engaging learning content, adapted for each individual's strengths and needs. I am driven in my passion to support students from all backgrounds and abilities. I am highly creative and will consistently go above and beyond to tailor learning content to your strengths and areas for development.

Services

I have great experience teaching a range of abilities, including stretch and challenge for students aiming for Grade 8 and above at GCSE. Additionally, I am greatly interested in supporting the development of students' enjoyment of reading and literacy skills, as well as skills of analysis with literature. Another strength of mine is engaging learners who are facing barriers and challenges with their learning, including SEN, individuals with EAL and behavioural difficulties.
