I am a 2nd year University of Bristol undergrad offering GCSE Maths lessons tailor-made to your learning needs [Bristol-based + online]
I have been tutoring Maths for a year through The Access Project education charity. In that year, I completed just under 40h of teaching with two GCSE Maths students. I have also volunteered as an English tutor, student mentor and SEND assistant (over 160h in the last two years).
My qualifications:
BSc Education Studies @ University of Bristol (ongoing) - strong emphasis on research methods (quantitative & qualitative) + statistics for research (Grade: 73)
A-levels: AQA Mathematics (Grade: A), AQA Further Mathematics (Grade: B)
Secondary School Year 10 Diploma [equivalent to GCSE in Latvia] Mathematics (Grade: 9 out of 10)
DBS Checked
My teaching method is based on your learning needs - i.e. I will not lecture you for an hour but rather figure out your most preferred learning method. Whether it is working through a PPT/worksheets I created, watching short videos, following your textbook, learning how to take notes effectively, creating revision cards/posters, playing games or completing challenges - together, we will identify a way to make these lessons not only useful but also fun!
I structure my lessons in three parts:
(1) Warm-up, where I might give you a blitz exercise to get you in the right mood
(2) Recap previous lesson's materials/or start the next one
(3) Practice! Practice! Practice! (this section is normally based on the exam-style questions)
I usually set short homework to give you a chance to try on your own and test your understanding without supervision. It is not compulsory, but as we all know - practice makes perfect! :)
I follow up every lesson with the learning materials we used in the lesson for further reference (sent via email).
