I am a soon-to-be Masters student at Durham University, having graduated with a First from King's College London in 2020. I've worked with children and young people for all of my adult life (and a little before that too!). My particular expertise is in Religious Studies (that's my degree area), while as a tutor I've focused on English for mainly secondary school pupils, including helping one GCSE pupil achieve a 4 (and nearly a a 5!) on his 4th retake. I attribute essay writing skills gained during my own A Levels to my success at university, and would be very happy to help with general essay writing skills applicable to any essay subject.
I prepare individually for every lesson to tailor well to the student's curriculum and specific needs. For example, with a GCSE English pupil, we will practice analysing texts to maximise marks, as well as creative, non-fiction and essay writing skills.
I've also taught children in my role as a children's ministry leader at Church, and during some time as a teaching assistant in a secondary school (primarily in an additional needs classroom) I worked with teenagers who needed some extra help. I firmly believe that no student should be left behind and am passionate about building confidence and ability through practical assistance.
I have been tutoring primarily online since the lockdown, but will restart in-person lessons after my move to Durham at the end of September. My advertised rates are for GCSE and A-Level pupils, and could be negotiable for longer lessons or younger pupils.
I'm most recently a Theology graduate of King's College London, comfortably achieving a First and earning a place at Durham to continue my education with a Master's. For the last year, I tutored mainly English students alongside my degree, and I've loved continuing to work with young people and encouraging and coaching them to achieve their full potential: so much that I am continuing to tutor alongside my Master's this year! Many of my students chose to continue their lessons online when I moved away, but I am hoping to also take on a few more students, whether in person or online.
I've been tutoring now for a year, but before I started I worked with children and young people in a variety of environments, from nannying to working as a teaching assistant to overseeing and teaching groups of children in a Church environment. From this experience, I've developed an engaging manner and confidence explaining difficult topics in easy-to-understand ways.
I mainly offer one-to one lessons in English and Religous Studies at the following levels:
English - KS3, GCSE, A Level and adult (primarily writing skills)
Religious Students - GCSE and A Level (most familiar with OCR exam board and Christian streams, but flexible).
I also have intermediate Koine Greek skills, and could offer support for a university student studying first-level Greek.
Finally, I can offer essay-writing support and advice for university students who may be struggling with structure or style.

This was assessed via essay writing coursework and exams, involving language study, literary and historical work on the Bible, and more philosophical study of Christian Theology. I achieved a strong First overall.
