I am a First class English graduate with a two years` teaching and tutoring experience and a passion for my subject. I completed my degree in summer 2020, achieving a First Class Honours. I have always had a love for English, particularly literature, and my hobbies include reading novels, poetry and watching theatre. I performed consistently across all levels of my education, studying a diverse selection of texts from across a range of literary and historical contexts, excelling particularly in English as my subject of choice. Having now completed my degree, I feel evermore enthused about the importance and brilliance of the language and the literature.
Last academic year, from 2019-2020, I worked as a private student to two students who, but for the coronavirus outbreak, were on track to meet and surpass their target grades. During this role, I developed and implemented comprehensive, tailored lesson plans that accommodated the fluid needs of each of my students; I liaised with students’ school teachers regarding their progress and the developing plan of action; and I provided regular verbal and written updates to parents.
From 2018-2019 I worked as an intern tutor at Greater Brighton Metropolitan College, teaching GCSE English to post-16 students. Working with young people of various ages and competency levels demanded initiative, attention to detail and the capacity to organise and manage my time. During this time, I assisted in the teaching of two classes of twelve students, compassionately providing one to one support to students of varying ability. This demanded the capacity to proactively manage time and resources throughout the hour-and-a-half lessons, independently cover and prepare content and prepare materials for classes, as well as tailoring lesson plans for students with unique and challenging needs.
I am an English tutor to GCSE students (literature and or language) of any ability. I am happy to offer tuition online or in person, available evening and weekends. I drive, and would be willing to drive directly to students` homes if desired. Alternatively, if Covid-19 provisions allow, I would be happy to meet students at a public library or other appropriate study space.
