Hello, I'm Caroline. I have been tutoring professionally for the past four years while teaching part time. I have tutored Maths at primary, lower secondary and GCSE level and prepared students for their 11+ and common entrance exams.

I have a very high success rate with students gaining the required grades to enter the sixth form or their chosen training course. As a former Special Needs Coordinator, I specialise in helping students who lack confidence or who have missed out part of their maths education. My approach is to re-establish basics, spending as much time as necessary on each stage, before progressing to the next. I like to use real life examples and to encourage understanding and problem solving. I strongly believe that anyone can 'do maths'. 

I have taught GCSE and A Level Religious Studies and Philosophy and have been an external examiner for GCSE and A Level in both subjects.

About Me

I have worked in `outstanding` comprehensive and selective state and independent schools for over 25 years as a classroom teacher, head of department and Special Needs Coordinator. 

I have a Post Graduate Certificate of Education qualification in Religious Studies and Maths teaching and have taken and passed a six month Open University course in `Developing Mathematical Thinking` that concentrates on the most effective ways of teaching Maths. In addition to Maths and RS, I have  taught A Level Philosophy in which a logical approach is a vital skill.
