As a qualified teacher and native speaker of French, I have enjoyed years of privately tutoring students and I hope to be able to help you with your French! I also have over 20 years of exam marking experience and this really helps me target my teaching for candidates preparing for exams (GCSE and A Level)
My goal is to make learning French fun and interesting. Being French, I do place a certain emphasis on grammar and teaching of the accurate use of verbs and agreements but ultimately, this does come gradually with time and practice, and the most important thing for me is the ability for students to communicate and to understand French culture.
I set homework and mark it. This is a very important process for me and my students. With my teaching, the aim is not just to learn 'by rote', but to become a fully independant user of the language, but practising your own language, making mistakes and learning from them.
I qualified as a French and German teacher in 1995 and have been privately tutoring since 1998. I learned French as Foreign Language at university in France before coming over to live in the UK and have always had a passion for working with people and helping them achieve their goals, in a fun and relaxed way, but also in a determined way too!
I am in my early 50s and enjoy various hobbies such as yoga, reading, knitting coloured knits (fair isle), watching good films and looking after my cats and going on long walks around the place (Cornwall being my favourite). I love travelling to France and sitting at cafes and watch the world go by.
I can teach you online or in your home if you live within reasonable driving distance of my home.
I am happy to teach children from 6 years onwards (depending on maturity and motivation to learn), through to teenagers taking GCSE and A Level exams, to older children doing their degree and adults learning French for business or pleasure, or for the purpose of living in France.
