A positve and enthusiastic individual excited to share her knowledge and help students achieve their goals.
I personalise my approach to each student so that they learn in a way which suits them and ensures they have a great understanding of topics in question. I will encourage students to ask questions and answer them in research type activities in order to build their curiosity and love of science. I believe in understanding topics instead of trying to memorise them.
After ensuring that students understand the topics, I like to reinforce this information (to ensure we are practicing active and not passive learning) by answering questions from textbooks and mock exam papers. Students preparing for exams will also be encouraged to look at mark schemes in order to learn how to best answer questions - I will engage with students in discussions about these mark schemes.
I am a first year PhD student at the UCL department of Physics and Astronomy looking at 2D materials for their uses in devices. I have a Master in Science degree in Chemistry also from UCL and have previously tutored GCSE students in Chemistry and Maths. Still being in academia gives me a deeper understanding of how people learn and obstacles that students may face today which we will need to over come.
Due to COVID-19 lockdowns I will not be able to visit the students home but I am comfortable in using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype or any other video conferencing software. Making presentations and having Q&A sessions in order to personalise the remote learning approach. I am also more than happy to be emailed scanned work to look over and give feedback via. discussion in subsequent sessions.
I am happy to answer any questions about my previous experience via. messages! Please do not hesitate to contact me.
I tutor GCSE Maths, Science (any), as well as AS/A-level Chemistry.
