I graduated from the University of East London having studied Business with Economics. I worked as a secondary school teacher, teaching Maths from KS2 - GCSE levels. I have been working as a professional tutor for over 10 years. I have tutored pupils ranging in ages 5 to 18, coming from diverse cultural backgrounds of various academic levels. I have demonstrated success empowering my students to achieve their academic goals, especially in 11+ school entrance exams amongst other subjects.
I am a patient and empathetic tutor; I personalise lessons to meet my students’ individual needs because I believe that every student is unique. I also pride myself on offering honest feedback and recommending appropriate educational resources if necessary.
My interest in education was aroused in 2002 when I took on a role as a coordinator for a local youth group (age 12-16). Alongside organising international trips (for 200 youths to Sweden, Germany, Spain, France and Hungary), I also conducted presentations on philosophy and mindfulness which demonstrated to the young people how it could be applied in their lives. This experience helped me to appreciate how empowering the role of an educator is.
Due to a love of problem solving and reading books from a young age, I always found Maths and English stimulating. I thrived on simplifying complex concepts, so others could understand easily. During my time at college, I would tutor local children to improve their grades and confidence in Maths and English. I was able to inspire my students, showing them how to perceive Maths in everyday situations, and how reading and writing are transformative experiences.
In 2015, I worked as secondary Maths trainee teacher for 1 year where I became familiar with the national curriculum from KS2 to GCSE which I taught to students of different abilities. I have also prepared students for the SATs exam in primary school. I gained valuable experience working with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) students and developed strategies for teaching them effectively, supporting them to gain great results.
I currently work as a private tutor specialising in 7+, 11+, 13+, KS2 - KS3 English, KS2 - GCSE Maths and GCSE & A Level Business Studies. My students have successfully received offers from their chosen schools (Latymer, Haberdasher Aske, Queen Elizabeth Boys), and Universities (Brunel, City, Birmingham). I am able to teach many subjects confidently while taking into consideration the different learning styles of my students.
I am passionate about helping others as it is in line with my personal values. I have raised funds to sponsor education and free food for underprivileged children in India and Kenya.
I aim to treat everyone I meet with respect, care and more importantly as an individual. I have been fortunate to travel to many European countries and enjoy learning about different customs and cultures. I am an avid reader of history and philosophy, and so am able to confidently converse on it. I am also able to converse in Hindi and Urdu fluently.
I have been commended by my peers, managers, work colleagues and students that I possess strong empathy and rapport building skills.
I enjoy travelling, playing football, cricket, boxing and running.
Over the last 10 years, I have offered tuition in a variety of areas and I am both comfortable and experienced in tutoring all ages. A selection of the subjects I have tutored are as follows:
