I am a qualified and experienced language teacher of Italian, English and medical English. I have been teaching languages for many years, both in Italy and in the U.K., face to face and online, and to all age groups, particularly adults.
I hold a Doctorate Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures (English and German, Italy, 2002) and the Celta, Cambridge qualification for teaching English as a second language (London, 2018). I also have a medical background from Italy and the U.K. and have experience preparing doctors and nurses for the Occupational English Test.
I speak native Italian, near native English and fluent German. I have been living in London (U.K.) since 2010.
I am passionate about languages and helping others achieve their goals by using a communicative and tailored approach. I enjoy teaching, helping students achieve their language goals and meeting students from all over the world.
I believe teaching is a mutually enriching experience and learning can be fun!
I was born in Reggio Calabria, a beautiful city by the sea, in the south of Italy. Due to my father's job, I moved with my family from one city to another, and changed school very often during my childhood. I believe that this has helped me become flexible and able to cope and thrive when changes are needed.
My High School (‘Liceo Classico’) studies focused on Latin, Ancient Greek, Italian, languages and literatures.
I accomplished the Doctorate Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures in Parma (north of Italy) in 2002, specialising in English and German. At University, I studied a lot of literature, history and linguistics. During my University studies I did many jobs with languages: language teacher, tour guide, interpreter.
In 2008 I qualified as a nurse and in 2010 and, after working one year as a cardiac nurse in Italy, I moved to London where I worked 12 more years as a nurse and since 2016 as a freelance language teacher and translator.
In 2016 I attended a one-year course on general and specialised translation at Westminster University and in 2018 I obtained the Celta, i.e. Cambridge qualification for teaching English as a foreign language. In the same year, soon after the Celta course, I worked as an OET tutor helping nurses and doctors prepare for the IELTS Occupational English Test, at first in a couple of London schools and thereafter privately, mainly online.
I currently work remotely as language teacher, translator and interpreter, specialised in the medical field.
I offer remote tutoring for the languages Italian and English, all levels, and all age groups from age 6.
Thanks to my linguistic background and my experience with teaching, I can explain in simple and practical terms the grammar rules of both languages.
I can help students learn the medical vocabulary and phrases used in the Italian and English healthcare systems.
I can offer presentations about the Italian and English literatures and cultures.
I am very patient and thorough, and I am committed to help the student believe in his/her strengths and use them to achieve their linguistic goals.

One month full time theoretical and practical course on teaching English to speakers of other languages, according to the Celta teaching method. In the morning we would observe experienced teachers teaching students, and in the afternoon we would teach a group of adult students, after having prepared the lesson and submitted a lesson plan which would be reviewed by our tutor. We would receive lots of feedback daily from our tutors and other Celta students, who would observe our afternoon class. The course was focused on a communicative approach.
During my 3 year-Nursing Degree course in Italy, I studied anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and other medical subjects and did practical nursing training through placements in different nursing settings (hospital, A&E, nursing home, psychiatric clinics).
I studied Italian, English and German languages and literatures, grammar, translation, linguistics, literatures of all three languages, history, American literature
Three year Diploma Course on Solfeggio and Music Theory, which has been officially recognised by the ABRSM in London.
