Elizabeth Violaris English Tutor with 3 years+ experience Bachelors

  • Online Tuition

I'm a fourth year Social Anthropology student at the University of St Andrews with personal experience in English Language and Literature up to Pre-U, and Philosophy through to university level. I also have extensive teaching experience both in the UK and abroad working with children from KS1 up to GCSE (and 2+ years of group teaching experience).

Although my specified subjects are English and Religious Studies/Philosophy & Ethics, I believe that the key to success in these, and other, subjects is the ability to think critically and be able to organise and structure thoughts quickly and efficiently. These skills are particularly important in essay writing when it is necessary to evaluate a set of information and place it within a structured, coherent argument.

I believe that in order for students to become more confident and begin to develop an intrinsic motivation for their subjects they need to be able to see and present the whole argument, developing their thinking skills. The cultivation of these skills forms the basis of all learning and academic success. As this comes from personal experience I am very patient and encouraging as a tutor as, although all students are different, once a student can see for themselves that they have the capacity to succeed they will begin to enjoy and participate more in sessions which only furthers their progress.

Services

I offer online lessons up to GCSE as well as English as a second language. I also offer written services to look over and correct essays with detailed written feedback to make sure that you improve.

I am very flexible with my schedule but ask that you book at least 24 hours in advance. Any lessons cancelled less than 12 hours before the lesson time will unfortunately still be charged.
