Emma Scarff English language and Literature Tutor Diploma, Bachelors, QTS

  • Online Tuition

Hi, I am Emma and I offer online tuition for English language, literature and functional skills. I teach KS3, KS4 and adult learners.

About Me

I gained my degree in education at Nottingham Trent University and have been teaching for 16 years. I taught in the classroom for the first nine years of my career and now work for the local authority with an amazing team of professionals; here I teach 1:1 English to Key Stage 3 and 4 children who are unable to attend school for medical or mental health reasons.
My specialism is in English language for which I have a passion and I thoroughly enjoy passing on my knowledge and skills to others.
I have a particular interest and expertise in teaching people who have anxiety, additional learning needs such as dyslexia, or who are neurodiverse. This is a field in which I have a plethora of experience.

Services

I offer bespoke 1:1 online tuition to secondary pupils aged 11-16 or to pupils ages 16+ who are taking functional skills or English GCSEs.
I am experiencing teaching pupils of all academic abilities, whether they are aiming to simply improve their skills and boost confidence, pass their exams or aiming to achieve a grade 9 in the GCSEs.
For GCSE English language and literature, I provide tuition that follows the AQA exam board.

Emma, I don’t know where to start. From day one you have been more than an English tutor! When the meeting ran over and I got upset you stayed back, I hope you know how much that meant to me. Because of you, I am starting to gain confidence again, starting to live again. I can’t thank you enough. You are always so patient with me even when I was having a brain fog. I really hope one day I can email you to tell you I’ve made it! You are such an amazing person and truly listened to me. I feel so honoured to have worked with you! You have left such a positive impact in my life, something I will cherish forever! Thank you for being part of my story!

To Emma, Thank you for being an amazing tutor and helping me through the language questions that I didn’t really know at the start of the year. You have been so kind and I have never been happier with my education than I am now. You have made me believe that I can do exams style questions and that there is nothing to be afraid of. I feel so privileged that you have taught me and I feel so lucky to have met you. Thank you for being so caring and understanding during our sessions. No tutors will ever be able to replace you. Thank you so much.

Dear Emma, We can’t thank you enough for your role in ****’s situation last year. Right from the get go we felt relieved and supported by your pragmatic, realistic approach and were frequently encouraged by your supportive and understanding responses to what each week brought.
