I am experienced in tutoring, with much success in the past. I will focus on any weak or confusing areas that the tutee or parent wishes to focus on. The first tutoring session is free to assess what these areas are for the tutee. Following this I will construct a tailored programme for the individual comprising of a range of activities and ensuring that assessment for learning is employed to check that pupils understand the material. This will allow the pupil to be able to apply their knowledge and really optimise their potential in written and practical assessments.
During the course of my PGCE I have gained a wealth of subject knowledge and am very confident teaching all science disciplines to GCSE. I also have experience in effective teaching and planning lessons. I can also identify and understand many common misconceptions and areas of difficulties that pupils may face.
I have also worked as a cover supervisor as a science specialist across years 7 to 11, providing a wealth of experience in delivering the science curriculum. Both of these positions have given me excellent knowledge of the science curriculum for KS3 and 4, including triple award. I am most familiar with the AQA exam board, however I have also used OCR and will ensure full familiarity prior to tutoring a different exam board.
I am very passionate about pupils improving and helping them achieve their goals through tutoring.
I offer Biology, Chemistry and Physics tuition age 11-16 including GCSE.
