About Me

September 1985-August 1986, Temp. Mathematics Teacher, Yardleys School, Birmingham.

I was employed on a temporary basis, this being my first teaching experience in the school sector. I gained confidence in basic teaching skills and subsequently improved my teaching skills at this level.

October 1886 – August 1987, Temp. Mathematics Lecturer, University of Coventry, Coventry

As a highly qualified mathematician, I taught mathematics to degree students, taking into account important issues relating to the transition in education from school to university

September 1987 – August 1993, Mathematics Lecturer, Bournville College, Birmingham.

I taught Mathematics at various levels ranging from Numeracy and basic Maths to A-Levels.

September 1993 – August 2002, Maths Lecturer, Sandwell College, Wednesbury, W Midlands.

Whilst working at Sandwell College, I taught Mathematics from basic level up to A level, and acted as a personal tutor for student groups. I also worked as a Mathematics A Level examiner. This enabled me to modify my teaching strategies according to examination board requirements.  As a result this was reflected in my students' performance, as there was a significant improvement in the final exam results.  In the meantime I also attended M.Sc course in computing at Wolverhampton University

September 2002 – August 2008, IT and Computer Science Lecturer, Bournville College, Birmingham

Subsequent to the completion of my M Sc course in Computing, I accepted a lecturing position at Bournville College to teach Computing and IT.  I taught Computing and ICT at various levels including BTEC (all levels), A-Level Computing, A-Level ICT, Access to HE in Computing.  I was also employed as an A Level examiner for Edexcel Examination Board, and attended several training courses to further improve the quality of my teaching.  As a result of overstaffing in the IT department, I accepted a voluntary redundancy package in September 2008.

September 2008 – August 2009, Mathematics Tutor, I S C, University of Leicester

I obtained employment in Sept 2008 as a Lecturer at Leicester University to teach Foundation Level Mathematics, Computing and Physics.  The aim of effecting transition from the school environment to higher education was challenging and overall successful.
