Hi, I'm Gail and I am an English teacher who lives in Birmingham.

I have been a secondary English teacher for 12 years and am currently tutoring GCSE and A Level students. 

Before tutoring commences, I will work with you to determine your strengths and targets and then tailor our sessions to work towards your personal goals. I like to keep session structures clear and consistent to support you with making progress. Sessions are structured to reflect how you will be expected to approach questions in exams, with me giving you more and more independence in approaching exam questions, before moving on to a new topic when you feel ready. I like to teach in small chunks as based on the assessment objectives of the question before putting everything together in an essay format.

I have Microsoft Innovative Educator accreditation and have led whole school CPD on the use of Teams so I have great expertise in remote teaching. You are welcome to request other preferred platforms.

I have exceptional knowledge of the AQA curriculum, including being a previous examiner for GCSE English Language and a current examiner for A Level Literature. 

About Me

I'm a mum to 2 daughters, 6 and 1. I love to read, especially Hilary Mantel.

I also love history, especially watching documentaries and listening to podcasts.

I'm an outgoing but conscientious person.

Services

I am able to tutor online.

Sessions are £50 per hour.

Timing of sessions can be arranged to suit as schedules once you contact me.

My subjects are A Level English Literature, GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature.

I will set homework and pre learning if you wish. Where prior learning and homework is set, I am happy to receive it prior to the session and give you feedback in the session itself, so that we make progress quickly and efficiently.
