My name is Habiba Al-khatib and I am a private tutor with 4 years experience teaching Primary and Secondary Maths, Sciences and English, including 11+, GCSE, IB and A-level qualifications. I teach online and in-person in London and Brighton.

My system of online teaching is effective and productive. I use this to teach students of all ages internationally: in the UK, United Arab Emirates, Australia, India and beyond. I also offer personal statement writing support for UK university applications. I DBS certified and am a member of the tutors' association UK.

My lessons are engaging and enjoyable; I believe learning is done best when students are relaxed. I strive to understand each of my students as individuals and build productive relationships while adjusting my teaching to best suit their learning needs and personalities. I place special importance on ensuring that my students fully understand their subject content, rather than simply memorise facts. I am also experienced in teaching exam technique and the art of writing exam answers based on each specification's (e.g. EDEXCEL, AQA, CIE etc..) mark scheme and syllabus. I have previously written plenty of resources, based purely on past exam mark schemes and examiner comments.

I previously studied Biochemistry at Imperial College London, and having received A*s in Science and Maths at A-level and GCSE, I also received the Pearson High Achievers' Award for scoring among the top A-level marks in the Middle East. At GCSE I received 8A*s and 2As, at A-level I received 3A*s. I am frequently referred to parents by teachers at top Dubai schools including Dubai College, with whom I liaise with to help guide their current students in several areas of academic life.

About Me

I was born in Dubai UAE and live between Brighton and London in the UK.

Aside from tutoring privately, I am on the board of trustees for a charity called ‘Girls in Charge’, providing skills-based education to young women. I am also an international speaker and advocate for Women in Science. I have previously presented my own research in a speech at the UN climate summit in 2017. I have since spoken as a youth and women's advocate at the UN World Urban Forum in 2018 and am a Women's Advocate for the L'Oreal-UNESCO Foundation for Women in Science. I currently lead the youth branch of a UN initiative under several UN agencies called Resilience Frontiers.
