Hello!
I am a highly experienced secondary school teacher across the 11-18 age range in a variety of settings. I love teaching History and working with young people to help them succeed. I want them to enjoy the subject and to develop their thinking and communication skills as well as to consolidate their historical knowledge.
Whatever your your child or young person's current situation and what they aim to achieve, I'll work with them to make sense of the key knowledge and skills required.
I am a full time History teacher with 26 years of experience in three Greater Manchester comprehensive schools, working with a full range of abilities, needs and personalities across the 11-18 age spectrum. I have considerable experience and expertise with GCSE and A Level History and also in preparing students successfully for the Oxford History Aptitude Test.
I have led the History Department at each of my schools and I have also been a History Examiner with the AQA exam board.
I have a full DBS Enhanced Certificate and can supply excellent references on request.
Are you struggling to achieve your potential in GCSE or A Level History? Falling behind or feeling overwhelmed or lacking confidence with key skills such as extended writing or answering source-based questions? Need help with revision skills?
Or are you pushing for that top grade and need a boost to your confidence and skills to help you get there?
Are you applying to Oxford and need support in preparing for the HAT?
I can run one to one sessions or work with small groups of students with similar needs sharing the hourly cost. Face to face or online is fine. I can prepare resources and can set and mark homework, depending on what's required.
