I have been teaching now for over 20 enjoyable years, working in both the state and independent sectors in many different roles including teaching in mainly Key Stage One and Lower Key Stage Two classes, supporting children one-to-one and in small 'booster' groups and most recently, as Head Teacher.

About Me

I graduated with a BEd (Hons) in teaching and have continued to study, completing courses on dyslexia, phonics teaching, multi-sensory maths, ADHD, sensory processing, ASD, improving children's writing and dyscalculia. I am currently studying for the Level 5 Certificate in dyslexia; literacy, support and intervention with the British Dyslexia Association. I ensure I keep up to date with the latest research by attending conferences, webinars and exhibitions, so that I can support children to achieve their greatest potential.

I wholeheartedly recommend Jane as a tutor. The eldest of my two children struggled with school. He had slow processing and as a result had low self-esteem and found instructions particularly difficult to follow. As his teacher Jane was always patient, nurturing, and highly professional. She ensured differentiation in his work so that he never became overwhelmed and was always encouraging, repeating instructions in a way he could understand. She always ensured he understood what was required before moving on. When he struggled with self-confidence and became frustrated because he didn’t understand something, she would always build him back up again by giving him the encouragement he needed to know he could achieve what he needed to, he just needed to believe in himself and she allowed him to make mistakes and use them as learning opportunities. She taught him resilience in the face of frustration and self-doubt. Jane had a way of getting the best out of him by pushing him out of his comfort zone and helping him achieve.
