Hi, I'm Jenny! Let me introduce myself...

I've had 9 years of experience working with children and young people - as a Maths and English tutor for Explore Learning, teaching English as a foreign language in China, and working as an Au Pair in Italy and the Netherlands.

I have been tutoring online for the past 10 months, and given over 70 lessons to children aged 5 to 15.

About Me

I have just completed my Masters in Amsterdam, and am now working on my career in Museums and Heritage.

Before my Masters, I graduated from the University of Exeter with a First in English Literature. I loved my English course because it gave me so much freedom to study what I was most interested in - from writing an essay comparing Hamlet and the Lion King, to flicking through letters written by Daphne du Maurier, one of my favourite authors.

However, at school I always found English to be my most challenging subject, and had to work really hard to get the grades I wanted. I can clearly remember how stressful school exams were, so my hope is to make you (or your child) more confident in your studies.

Services

I have experience tutoring primary, secondary, GCSE and A Level English. I also have a valid DBS certificate.

The great thing about tutoring is that it's all about the student! Everyone learns differently, and I want to help by using the best methods for you or your child. That's why I will ask you what you find most helpful (diagrams, mind maps, key words, focusing on texts etc.) and build lessons accordingly. We will also set learning goals together so you can keep track of your progress. This way you can be proud of your achievements and stay motivated!

I realise tutoring can be expensive, but I can assure that I offer great value; I typically spend at least an hour preparing each lesson, and also provide detailed feedback after each tutoring session. I can also provide homework tasks and free parents meetings.
