I specialise in teaching Religion, Philosophy an Ethics to all age groups, with a particular focus on Alevels.

Although I have not been teaching for long, my experience includes being Head of Religious Studies at a London Academy listed as outstanding by OFSTED. I have taught all age groups from Key stage 3/4/5.

I have experience with various Schemes of Work and am happy to work within curriculum guidelines to ensure my students achieve their highest grade potential. I take a particular interest in linking my subject to sources outside of traditional academic works and demonstrating how subjects are interlinked. For example, referencing historical and social contexts to Religion and Philosophical dialogues.

I have a wealth of wider knowledge to draw upon and enjoy using resources such as youtube clips to help students understand difficult concepts. I also insist on a teaching with a high level of grammar, spelling and vocabulary as these are skills students will find important in all areas of their academic careers; particularly if they intend on studying at university.

My interests outside of teaching include history, politics, books, films and cooking.

About Me

After gaining my BA in Philosophy at university, I entered the private sector pursuing a career in management. However, my interest in philosophy and religion eventually led me to make a career change and become a teacher. I have therefore not been teaching for very long, but have a wealth of experience working with people in various capacities and understand how to tailor my style to suit the needs of individuals. My first role as an NQT was Head of Religious Studies department, which was an unusual position to be in.

I truly enjoy exploring my subject with those who are interested and believe that everyone can benefit from the techniques and ideas contained in philosophical studies. It is also imperative for individuals within a multicultural society to have a wider understanding of the different cultures around them and the belief systems that make up our modern world.
