  • Online Tuition
  • Qualified Teacher

As a highly experienced teacher and examiner (20 years), I have helped hundreds of Philosophy and Religious Studies students to achieve excellent grades in either their A-level, IB or undergraduate studies. I hope to help you too.

About Me

Highly Experienced A-level Philosophy Senior Examiner, IB Philosophy Examiner and Teacher/Lecturer of Philosophy and Religious Studies (18 years), as well as a Dutch language expert. I have degrees in Dutch Studies and Philosophy, including Masters degrees and a PhD in both areas and a PGCE. I have published articles and books on various themes within Philosophy and Religious Studies.

ALL of my private tutees have gone up at least one grade with my help, with some achieving A*. My many years of experience in teaching and my level of knowledge means that you can be certain I know how I can help you improve on your grades. As a private tutor I can cater to your needs by providing one-to-one support in understanding the material and planning essays, assignments and exam questions. I cover all specifications (AQA, IB, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC/Eduqas and Cambridge Pre-U) and am able to help with any exam specification. My A-level sessions are designed to help you gain confidence in producing your own top-band answers.

I also teach Dutch, from beginners to advanced level, including those preparing for the Dutch citizenship test and Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde Taal.

For undergraduate and postgraduate students of Philosophy I help plan and structure your assignments, help with finding the right sources and explain, when necessary, the more challenging aspects of particular philosophies and theories. I can also help with revision for exams.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! for your help over the year – it honestly couldn’t have been done without it. (Jeevan). Thank you so much for all your help all this year. I really appreciate it. (Samaad). Karen is amazing. Her approach is positive, friendly and encouraging. My son also liked her approach, felt very comfortable with her. I highly recommend Karen. (Esra). Karen is an excellent teacher who helped my daughter a great deal at `A` level. She made sure my daughter was organised and fully understood concepts. Her lessons were always interesting and my daughter looked forward to her lessons with her. I can`t recommend her highly enough! (Michele). Very good tutor, invaluable (Sara). Karen became attuned to the nature of my (quite specific) academic requirements in a very short space of time, resulting in an extremely productive and valuable study session. She is friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging – a pleasure to work with! (Ayesha). I would like to thank you for your dedication. It was a great pleasure to have you as a teacher. I have learned a lot during this year and my understanding of philosophy is much broader than it ever was. (Marta). I just want to say a massive thank you for helping me get an A in religious studies! (Tynesha). Thank you so much for being such a great philosophy teacher. You made philosophy classes interesting and fun, and instilled me with the desire to continue learning. You are a wonderful teacher and I have no doubt you will continue to positively impact your students. – Majid I appreciate all the help and support you have given me through AS level studies. I hope you continue to bring the lively experience of studying RS. Your charismatic attitude towards teaching is what keeps us as students going. (Isam).
