Hi! I'm Katie and I`m currently completing a PhD in English at the University of Oxford, where I also teach. I have been tutoring English Language and Literature for almost eight years and have lots of experience with teaching students at both GCSE and A-Level stages.
Despite doing my own exams with the A-F system (I know, I`m getting old), I have lots of experience with the new 1-9 system and with a variety of exam boards. I have also taught for the IB English A course. I can adjust my teaching to fit your requirements, no matter the qualification, syllabus, or set texts.
I'm incredibly proud of the fact that all of my students have improved by at least two grades over the course of their tutoring with me, and many go on to get 8s and 9s, and offers at their chosen place of further or higher study. I'd love to help you or your child achieve the same.
I can also help with your university applications. I`ve got experience applying through UCAS, and to Russell Groups and Oxford for postgraduate study.
If anyone is interested, my PhD is about the media history of the eighteenth-century theatre. I`ll gladly talk your ear off about it.
About Me
I'm a current PhD student at the University of Oxford, where I also teach English. I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature with German from the University of Hertfordshire and a MA in Eighteenth-Century Studies from King's College London. I am fully DBS checked and am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
I have previously worked within a secondary inclusion department and so also have specific experience working with students with additional support needs, especially students with dyslexia and ADHD.
Services
I offer tutoring for English Language and/or Literature from GCSE to degree level. I can also offer general secondary level tutoring for ambitious students looking to get a head start on GCSE material.
I also offer advice and 1:1 sessions for personal statements, university applications, and especially Oxford applications for both undergraduate and graduate study.
