Hello! My name is Katy, I love learning languages and I would be delighted to inspire you to feel the same way!
I am a qualified teacher, with a degree in French and Spanish from Edinburgh University, a PGCE from Cambridge University, NQT status and a recent DBS certificate.
I have over 6 years of teaching experience, ranging from teaching English as a foreign language to children and adults in Spain, including FCE, CAE and IELTS preparation, to teaching secondary school French and Spanish from Year 7 through to GCSE and A-Level.
Studying languages myself, I understand the huge satisfaction and the great joy that it brings, as well as the massive frustrations that are faced along the way! Learning a language is not a straightforward, linear process, and my flexible teaching style takes this into account.
Whether you are looking to learn French, Spanish or English for personal interest, professional development or to pass those dreaded exams, I am here to help with enjoyable lessons, tailored to your needs and interests.
Originally from North Yorkshire, I studied French and Spanish at Edinburgh University before moving to Barcelona to teach English as a Foreign Language, where I spent four years. I returned to the UK, living in Cambridge where I did a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages and taught at a Suffolk school for a year, receiving QTS status. I then offered private tutoring, and worked in export sales from London using my languages in an international business context. I am now based in Bristol, offering French, Spanish and EFL tutoring.
I love learning languages, and have most recently been studying Japanese. Outisde of language learning, I love travelling, when possible, music, cinema, food and drink and mountain sports.
