Hello, my name is Kiran Razzaq. I am an enthusiastic, conscientious and positive individual who thrives on taking responsibility and withhold excellent interpersonal skills. My experience has been established from invaluable teaching and learning opportunities at the University of Hertfordshire, where I studied and achieved a First Class Honours degree in a Bachelor of Education with Qualified Teaching Status (QTS). Completing my degree to an outstanding level has empowered me with an understanding of individualising the current curriculum for pupils. For example, I pride myself in my individual assessment for learning and challenging pupils’ thinking to move their education and autonomy forward.
Furthermore, my degree ensures that I have a deep understanding of the current Primary National Curriculum. This means that I am qualified to teach EYFS, KS1 and KS2 and SEN pupils. Previously, I have worked on placement with Year 2, Year 3 and Year 6 children. My experiences in Year 2 and 6 have allowed me to support pupils in their SATS through assessment and target planning. Moreover, working with Year 3 taught me to use different pedagogies to skilfully support pupils transitioning from KS1 to KS2. As a current Upper KS2 educator (Year 5 + 6) based in West London, it is my professional responsibility to teach a wide curriculum (core and foundation subjects) However, my degree also specialises me in English, History and Religious Education.
Alongside completing my degree, I have worked with a tutoring company in London, for two years to prepare international students for PREP and private schools in the UK. My responsibilities involved working with pupils aged 3-16 years to develop the following at all levels:
Literacy comprehension
English grammar skills
Handwriting and composition
Advancing pupils through the Oxford Reading Tree stages
Mathematical fluency, reasoning and problem solving
My experiences working with a tutoring company motivated my interest in independent tutoring. Therefore, alongside my teaching career, I have been tutoring using the online platform Skype.
Finally, below I have listed my Final Assessment Record which highlights my strengths as per my University lecturers:
• Kiran is a very reflective student, and has clearly taken advice from a range of people and acted on it to develop her practice.
• Her lesson planning and organisation promotes outstanding learning for all groups of children
• Good understanding of using formative assessment to inform future planning and using effective marking to move learning on
• Questioning skills: uses targeted questions to ensure all groups of children have understood what is being taught especially with SEND pupils; using deep questions to probe and develop understanding.
• Good understanding of effective positive behaviour management, and well thought through strategies for implementing good behaviour routines in her new class.
• Structuring a sequence of lessons to develop learning.
• Good communication skills
As stated above, I offer tuition for English and Math for ages 3-16. I offer tuition via Skype and use screen sharing to teach interactive sessions. Also, I offer support in preparing children for 11+ exams. If you have any Specific targets, please let me know by contacting me with further information.
