I graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a 2.1 BSc (Hons) Psychology degree in 2007. I then worked as a Teaching Assistant at a specialist maths, science and ICT high school in Cheshire. After 8 years I decided to further my experience by doing a pgce in maths. I completed this course in 2014 and now work at an academy in Cheshire teaching maths to 11-16 years olds. I have a high level of experience working with children between the ages of 5 and 16. I love working with young people and strive to see my clients succeed.
I have had experience working with a wide range of children; those who are gifted and talented and those who need extra support in order to succeed. I also have specialist experience working with children who have learning difficulties, including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Autism. Every child matters and it is important that they are given every chance possible to achieve their best.
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching my previous students succeed and I am confident that I can bring an equally high standard to future students.
It is always my aim to make learning fun and therefore, memorable. I believe that remembering facts 'parrot fashion' is not an effective style of learning and this is where children struggle. It is important for a child to understand what they are learning and this is what I focus on. I plan my lessons to suit the needs of each individual child.
I tutor for the 11 + entrance exams and maths at any level.
