I'm keen to promote confidence in writing essays, whether this be for coursework or exams. As a PhD student, I teach undergraduates on a variety of Psychology modules at the University of Birmingham. I also mark coursework and exam scripts. The higher marks are awarded for great structure and critical analysis of the subject content. My aim in tutoring is to equip my students with the ability to critically answer any given question with the knowledge they have.
Critical analysis and great essay structure is what sets the top students apart. I'm confident I can teach this skill for any essay-based subject. I tailor the sessions with content you provide me, so you can directly apply the skills to your own work.
About Me
I obtained a First Class Honours Psychology BSc from Aston University, where I completed a placement year working as a research assistant at the University of Birmingham. I then was awarded a scholarship by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to complete a Psychology MSc (for which I achieved a Distinction) and Psychology PhD (I'm currently in my final year of funding). I have also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Research Methods (Masters level) and have undertaken formal teaching training in Higher Education which has enabled me to become an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (the professional body for University teaching). I am also a published author. This demonstrates that I am a high-achiever and understand the importance (and pressure) of performing well academically.
I'm still a student and I'm still learning. I think this is an asset to my teaching. I know the stress that comes with learning and can hopefully help to reduce that! I'm approachable and friendly and I will never belittle your efforts. Rather than me passively teaching you, we will work together and I will guide your learning. I want to boost your confidence in your ability. Chances are, if you're seeking extra tuition then you are diligent. I love working with students who want to learn and I'm eager to work with you.
Services
I offer an online tutoring service. I tutor Psychology: GCSE, A-level, all levels of Undergraduate, and Masters (including Psychology in Education). My preferred area of Psychology (and my current area of research) is Developmental Psychology and Social-Cognition. Childcare studies are also within my remit. I can teach how to perform statistical tests in SPSS although I prefer helping with report-writing and essays. I'm happy to help with the planning stages, discuss ideas, and proof-read work. I also help students with additional needs, such as dyslexia, put their answers onto paper. Note: I cannot and will not write work for you, the ideas and work need to be your own.
