Hello! My name's Lilit, I'm in my 4th year of my Biological Sciences Master's degree at Durham University, and I love it! I am an experienced Biology and Chemistry GCSE tutor with over 100 hours of experience in teaching these subjects across multiple exam boards (OCR, AQA, Edexcel). I have tutored across multiple online channels including MyTutor, Titanium Tutors, and private tutoring. I achieved 9A* and 1A in my GCSEs in 2016 and am an experienced exam taker- I am excited to share my tips and knowledge in how to tackle GCSE exams and feel confident in doing so!
About Me
For each student, I immediately set out to gain a good understanding of each individuals strengths and weaknesses in the subject, and what topics they would particularly like to work on. After gaining a broad understanding of each student's academic profile, I compile flexible lesson plans guided by their exam syllabus.
I use a variety of resources including official online resources from the exam board, my own GCSE textbooks, YouTube videos, animations, exam papers etc. to guide the student through the topic and help them to gain a full understanding of what is required by the exam board. I really love coming up with new ways to explain difficult scientific concepts- I understand that students have different preferred ways of learning, for example, for more visual learners, I will incorporate more animations and diagrams to help them to really understand the concept being taught.
I also encourage discussions around the subject, using relevant news articles and real-world research currently going on to help bring context to what we are learning, rather than just memorising the textbook! I also teach excellent exam technique, particularly the use of specific terms to gain full marks in exams and how to structure answers for A*(9) level marks. I am enthusiastic about sharing my love for the subject and I hope to increase students' confidence in their abilities!
