I'm a 28 year old graduate from The University of Hull. I studied Music and Theatre Studies and graduated in 2014 with an upper second class grade. Before going to university, I worked at a large clothing retailor as a supervisor. I was promoted at 17 years old due to my positive attitude and energetic spirit. I was also a customer service excellence advisor, meaning I had extra responsibilities in training and grading new staff. This was thanks to my great communication skills when working with other people, and customers. I had to leave this position when I went on university as it was too far from my university city. During my time at university I was a member of many groups, learning how to effectively manage my time to ensure I could give 100% in all areas. I was events coordinator for The Gilbert and Sullivan Society. This was a very active society, producing serval shows every year. I have always enjoyed performing, singing in particular. I believe it is one of the very few things that unites almost everyone on earth. Even if we don't understand the language being sung, we can appreciate the sound, the technique and vocal tone of the singer, (providing they are a competent singer)
Graduated in 2014 from The University of Hull. Holds a BA Hons degree in Music and Theatre Studies, graded 2.1
In 2016, I completed my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), certificate.
I taught music and drama for a brief time in Sri Lanka.
In 2016 I travelled to China, where I taught English in many academic settings for around 4 years.
At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, I travelled to Thailand for safety and have since been unable to go back or go home. Here, I have start my journey into online teaching. Over the course of this year, I have taught people of all ages and feel very comfortable and confident teaching online.
I can offer lessons or courses in English; from beginning through to people fine tuning their English fluency. I have over 4 years experience, working in a variety of academic settings. I've taught children as young as two years old, through to adults in their mid-50s. I can work very well with children and can start from the basics; learning colours, numbers and phrases such as, 'how are you'? I also hold a lot of experience teaching phonics. It's never too late to set your sounds right. I have worked as a consultant for an IELTs school and feel very confident that I can help you to achieve your goals. I have worked with many curriculus and know how to adapt a lesson plan to the style in which the student will best retain the information. I like to create a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere during my lessons. This helps the student to feel at ease and try their best without the anxiety of making mistakes. However, making mistakes is normal, so don't be disheartened or afraid, just try again. Whilst I do create a comfortable atmosphere for the students to learn, I ensure we keep a goal orientated focus on the matter at hand. I am also able to work with you on reducing your native accent and training your accent to sound more like a native British person. Though I can speak in the Queen's English, I would only offer accent training in a general northern English accent. Lastly, slang is something that will make you sound and appear to have a better command of the language than perhaps you do. I can help you specifically with British slang. I have an extensive knowledge of British slang through all generations.
