I have taught for over 25 years, and was Head of Maths in a secondary school. I feel passionately that students should get the qualification at the level they desire, so they can proceed and realise their potential after their GCSE. I am successful with many students making 2 grades progress with my support. I like to use concrete models and diagrams to teach understanding of topics, then use these to structure workings out. As understanding and confidence grows, we practice questions and then look at exam questions together, to learn how to break these down. I have a degree in maths and have worked with students from KS1 through to GCSE. I have a current DRB, so can teach face to face or online. I wear a visor or a mask with face to face tuition.
I qualified with my maths degree in 1979, then worked as a project manager in electronics until 1990 when I was made redundant. I looked after my children until I took my teaching qualification in 1993.i worked mainly in KS2 for 20 years before transferring to secondary teaching. I left my post as Head of Maths in 2018 to become a maths tutor.
