The Journey of Excellence in Turkish Language Teaching

I am pleased to share with you my academic background, research, and experience in the fields of linguistics and Turkish language teaching, which I have accumulated over more than 20 years.

• Academic background: After graduating from the Department of Turkish Language Education, I completed my Master's degree by writing one of the first dissertations in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. I then went on to do a PhD in Linguistics. Throughout my Master's and doctoral studies, I received the highest honours and graduated as the highest-ranked student in all of my academic programmes. These academic achievements have strengthened my in-depth understanding of Turkish language teaching and linguistics and serve as a testament to my continuous pursuit of excellence in my academic career.

• Turkish Language Teaching Experience: During my M.A. and Ph.D. studies, I worked as a Turkish language teacher in Turkish state schools for eight years and received the "Achievement Award" from the Ministry of National Education three times for my outstanding performance. At the same time, I taught more than 2,000 hours at a private language school in Istanbul, where I taught Turkish to foreign students at different levels. Between 2019 and 2023, I taught a total of 1,450 hours of Turkish language and culture in the CLCS and NMES departments at Trinity College Dublin. As a result, I have gained unparalleled experience in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, both in Turkey and internationally.

• Research expertise: Between 2013 and 2019, I worked as an Assistant Professor in the Linguistics Department at Istanbul University, where I taught courses on foreign language teaching methods, second language acquisition, Turkish structure, and teaching Turkish as a foreign language. During this period, I also served as the head of the Department of Turkish as a Foreign Language at Istanbul University from 2016 to 2019. I have participated as a principal investigator and researcher in various projects related to the cognitive processing of Turkish as a first and second language, with a total budget of more than 300,000 euros. My publications include numerous articles, book chapters, and conference presentations on topics such as Turkish language acquisition, teaching Turkish as a foreign language, and cognitive processing of Turkish. I have contributed to teacher training by teaching various courses in Turkish language teacher training programmes, and I have supervised five Master's and doctoral theses, further contributing to the growth of researchers in the field.

This extensive academic and research background has enabled me to develop an in-depth understanding of the teaching and cognitive processing of Turkish at an international level and to contribute to the training of new teachers and researchers in the field.

Successful Turkish language teaching requires a solid theoretical foundation, extensive experience, and a well-structured programme. In addition to my pioneering research, academic programme development, and years of experience, I take great pleasure in providing my students with effective and efficient guidance and support in their Turkish language learning journey.

Services

Teaching Turkish as a foreign language:
I offer Turkish language courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners of Turkish. My lessons not only help students develop their language skills, but also allow them to explore Turkish culture and daily life. By using modern methods and research-based approaches to teaching Turkish, I support my students' language acquisition in the most efficient way possible. I provide a personalised learning experience with specially designed lesson plans and materials tailored to meet the needs of each student at each level.

Turkish GCSE Exam Preparation:
I offer comprehensive preparation courses for the Turkish GCSE exam in the UK. My programme equips students with essential skills in grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking. Through exam strategies, past exam questions and practice tests, I provide support tailored to each student's learning pace and needs, helping them to achieve the best possible results in the exam.

Turkish A Level Exam Preparation:
I offer professional Turkish A Level exam preparation services. This programme helps students to develop their language skills while gaining a deeper understanding of grammar, literature, culture and communication. My lessons are fully aligned with the A Level syllabus and provide detailed analysis and practical exercises to help students achieve top results. For students with a certain level of language proficiency, success in the Turkish A Level exam is crucial as it increases their UCAS points and sets them apart from their peers. It is therefore essential to excel in this exam.
