I am an English Language (TESOL) and Literature tutor. I have the necessary and recognized teaching qualifications BA Honours Degree of English and TESOL (Nottingham Trent University 2008), CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) and other certificates related to my career.

I am a British Citizen. As I have been living and studying in the United Kingdom, I have had many chances to explore British culture, values, people, traditions and customs as well as its language. During my career, I have learned so many things, gained priceless knowledge and experiences and improved myself as a person as well as a teacher.

I have experience of teaching and training in English subject area and relevant up-to-date knowledge as I have been taught, studied, practised and delivered unique and student-centred teaching approaches and techniques. During my teaching career, I have successfully gained good reference and record of managing and supporting diverse groups. I have been teaching to students from a different ethnic background, age, level, profession, need and interest, etc. I have also taught to students who may have little experience of education and training. I have been giving one to one private English lesson on various needs, purposes and aims of learners such as; subject, college, university, profession exams, job interviews as well as English for business and academic purposes.

I have been delivering general English lessons of ‘ESOL Skills for Life’ Entry1,2,3, ‘Functional Skills in English Entry1,2,3 – Level 1,2’, ‘English My Way -Beginners at the City College Nottingham and I still do so at the present.

In addition, I have been preparing private students to IELTS and English Life in the UK exams. I have recently delivered English lessons to Key Stage 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 students in Nottingham. I have training and experience in receiving and delivering English Literature lessons in 13th, 18th, 19th and 21st Century Literature around essays, dissertations for academic purposes.

I am conscious of the importance of different life experiences as teachers come from all walks of life. I believe, this aspect is the key to 'good teaching' as it endows teachers with the ability to practice the real-life episodes by considering students' needs and interests. I am a very artistic person, and I very much believe in the power of imagination in teaching. That allows me to deliver unique lessons and use/teach any language skills interestingly and effectively in a student-centred learning interaction. I like to explore and create new things when I do my lesson plans. I always aim to encourage/motivate learners and keep their interest in their learning process and progress. By observing, monitoring and eliciting I adapt to the needs and interests of a variety of learners. Therefore, I have been developed into a teacher who identifies, improves and shares innovative and creative teaching techniques, methods and resources.

My main aim is to deliver a positive, balanced and effective teaching and learning interaction where learners are developed into their creative self-expression. I believe that one of the teachers’ roles in teaching is to take students from dependent stage to the most important one; the independent stage where students can learn about themselves as well as others, can relate to others and realize their individual success among them.

I promote interaction in the English class by empowering learners and helping them develop their communication skills. I enjoy to build communication among learners and me through entertainment, the productive group works and activities such as; ice-breaking activities, role plays, tasks, group research, presentations, group discussions, mock and interviews, trip to various places such as; cinema, theatre, art galleries, museums, etc.

I structure tasks with mutual goals that require each member of the group offers a unique contribution to the joint effort. I can skilfully create independent and suitable language learning tasks to the different level of students in which I aim to develop students’ thinking skills. I keep my focus on my students at all times. I listen and monitor my students closely but almost invisible. I observe, gain feedback and take notes around their strengths, weaknesses, needs and interests. I organize a monthly one to one, face to face meeting with each student to receive and give feedback on their process and progress during their learning period. I use every previous classroom experience as guidance for the future ones in the aim of to deliver the best lesson to each student according to his/her individual needs.

As I was an ESOL student once, I can relate in confident to my students’ interests, needs and worries. I am very familiar with the problematic and stressful aspects of teaching and learning process and progress. I am aware that certain emotions can act as filters in the flow of learning. Negative feelings such as fear and embarrassment can interfere with a learner’s ability to process information. My role as a teacher is to deliver a lesson skilfully where the students experience positive feelings in which the classroom interaction are developed and improved at the most effective and successful levels at all times.

I have good IT skills and willing to develop further. I show accuracy and precision in a written presentation.

I support my own development of my craft through experience, common sense, self-evaluation and reflection.
