Hello! I am an English teacher at Newstead Wood School, one of the highest achieving grammar schools in the country. I am very passionate about sharing my love for English literature and the English language with students of all abilities so that they too can enjoy and thrive in the subject.

About Me

I have always been passionate about English as it plays such an important role in our society. I completed my degree in English at Royal Holloway University and volunteered at a variety of places such as the Tower of London and the Globe Theatre before deciding on pursuing a career in teaching.

I have been teaching at Newstead Wood for nearly 6 years and have had the privilege to teach students with a wide range of abilities and interests. I hope to continue to share and inspire a love for English with the knowledge that everyone is good at English with the right guidance!

Services

I teach English at key stages 3-5, including English Literature and Language at GCSE level (AQA exam board), as well as English Literature A level (Edexcel exam board).

For English Literature at GCSE level, I specialise in the following texts: Romeo & Juliet, Lord of the Flies, Love & Relationships cluster of the Poetry Anthology and Pride & Prejudice. I can also provide sessions on Unseen Poetry and the Spoken Language element of the GCSE course. In addition to this I teach both Papers 1 and 2 for English Language.

At A Level, I teach the Prose element of the Edexcel English Literature course, specialising in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Wuthering Heights and A Thousand Splendid Suns. I also teach Metaphysical Poetry and have experience in teaching A Streetcar Named Desire.

I also provide additional support for students with special educational needs (SEND) and English as an additional language (EAL). I help students strengthen their skills in spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) as well as crucial reading and writing skills, especially how to structure English essays succesfully.
