I am a young Welsh tenor with the desire of pursuing a career in Opera. I am originally a welsh language speaker from Anglesey but currently based in Cardiff. My priority as a teacher is the student.

About Me

Having studied as a tenor through BMus (Hons) in Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff for the last three years, I am currently going into my fourth and final year. I have been fortunate to be tutored by Adrian Thompson who has helped immensely with my development and enjoyment of the course, thus reinforcing my desire and passion to follow a career in Opera.
Pursuing a career that allows so many opportunities, I am ambitious to gain as many experiences as possible to familiarise myself with this career path. Starting at college, the main highlights of my performances include being part of the chorus in La Cenerentola (Rossini) and The Gondoliers (Gilbert and Sullivan); 70th anniversary Opera Gala celebration and being highly commended in the E A Redman competition. I have represented the college at the annual Junior Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary competition and had the privilege of singing for His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at a private function in his home in South Wales. My most recent representation was at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the investiture of HRH Prince Charles amongst The Royal Family and other distinguished guests.
Since moving to Cardiff, I have also joined the BBC Welsh National Chorus, experiencing singing at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff and being part of the London Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. In 2019 I made my principle debut with Welsh National Opera as the 'Younger Brother' in 'Dead Man Walking' by Jake Heggie. My most recent appearance in Opera was in Italy, on Matteo Dalle Fratte's Opera Summer Course, 'Melofonetica'. I played the role of Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Anfinomo (Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria) and was a chorus member in La Boheme. Being a chorus member in 'Opera de Bauge' Opera Festival (France) was due to be my opera experience this summer, but was cancelled due to the pandemic.
For four years, I was privileged to gain a place on the Only Boys Aloud Academy. During this intense course we received tuition in theory lessons, masterclasses, different languages and music genres. At the end of the course, we held three prestigious concerts under the directorship of Jonathan Butterell. In 2015, I was one of four chosen for a masterclass session with the soprano Rebecca Evans. In my final year as an Academy member, I became section leader for the first tenors with responsibility for the behaviour and performance of each individual. OBA allowed me to sing at Cardiff Castle as part of a quartet for His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Megan Markle; at Cardiff Airport to welcome dignitaries from Qatar Airways, a solo part at the Menin Gate, Belgium and at the Welsh Festival in Lorient, France. I have been fortunate to be led by Tim Rhys Evans, representing the choir at 10 Downing Street, the opening of Sport Relief 2016 at the Olympic Park in London and sang for Her Royal Highness the Queen at the opening of the 5th National Assembly in Cardiff. We also took part in the Hampton Court Festival with Katherine Jenkins.
My ambition started at the age of 7, starting my career at the National Welsh Eisteddfod. I released 2 CD's under the SAIN label and following an audition, became the welsh voice of Noddy in the popular children's series which is still being broadcast. Due to my success I sang at Euro Disney Paris and at the MEN Arena, Manchester in the Thousand Welsh Male Voices Concert. I want to give enjoyment to people from all backgrounds, and all corners of the world. I would like nothing more than to be able to share my love for music and give performances which will enrich people's minds and souls.
I believe that a postgraduate course is a vital next step to my development, which will build upon the knowledge and experience I have acquired to date. My future goal is then to follow an Opera course, which will enable me to reach my potential and fulfil my ambition of becoming a worldwide professional tenor.
