I am a 28-year-old final year PhD student (Political Theory and Middle Eastern studies) at the University of Leeds.  I am qualified to teach Politics via my expertise (I have A levels, a BA and MA in the subject) and three years of tutoring experience at the university level. This has included marking work, giving constructive and critical feedback, tutoring groups and 1 on 1 with students. This experience has given me time to change my practice and recognise that each student is different and thus needs different methods to get the best out of them.  In my tutorials, I use various tools such as slides,  videos, essay questions and open discussion to try and engage a wide range of students. Not everything works for everyone so I adjust my tutorials when necessary for each student.

I am not only qualified but I am also passionate about tutoring students. I believe many students can benefit from additional tutoring allowing them to unlock their potential and achieve the grade they truly deserve. My approach is one that is encouraging and patient but also honest. It is necessary to be encouraging and patient to ensure participation and a continued belief in their ability. It is also necessary to be honest about what is not so good so the student can improve and maximise their potential.

About Me

I am someone who enjoys tutoring as I want to help people unlock their potential. This is especially the case at A level when students can underperform for a variety of reasons. At such a crucial stage in their academic lives, I am passionate about trying to get the best out of every one of my students to help them achieve what they want. During my PhD, I have taken on large teaching loads meaning I have substantial experience in tutoring, marking work and having to deliver feedback.

As someone who did not have access to a tutor when I was younger, I am conscious of the difficulty around affordability. If my rates are too high for you, I am open to negotiation to make tutoring accessible for everyone.
