  • Online Tuition

I am a 21 year old biologist. Having already achieved an A* and 9 in A Level and GCSE Biology respectively, I am currently pursuing an MBiol Biology Degree at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. I was awarded the Heron-Allen scholarship by Lady Margaret Hall for excellence in Preliminary Examination results.

By extending my love for biology through wider reading, I have achieved a Gold Award and Best in School for the RSB's Biology Olympiad and Challenge. I was also awarded my Gold CREST award at the age of 14. I am a published author in the Young Scientist Journal and have presented my scientific findings in conferences. I was awarded the prestigious Heron-Allen Travel Scholarship by Lady Margaret Hall to support my scientific expedition to the Chocó cloud forest where I conducted ornithological surveys in a part of the Tropical Andes that has never been studied by scientists before. Keen to spread awareness about our planet, I have spoken at several events about the musicality of birdsong, biodiversity loss and other anthropogenic pressures.

I have tutored and supported many biology students through the years of varying abilities and academic levels; from KS3 pupils to nursing students. Several of my students have gone on to achieve top grades and pursue biology related courses at higher education.

Additionally, I have completed all piano grades with Trinity Guildhall. I have also been awarded all levels of the Arts Award Scheme. I am an Associate of the Royal Schools of Music. As well as being awarded an A* and 9 at A Level and GCSE music respectively, I am a South Indian Classical musician (both vocal and Nattvangum).

I am a Youth Council Member, Intern and Social Media Manager for Reserva: The Youth Land Trust and have actively contributed to various initiatives, including an interview for Connect4Climate on World Environment Day. I have conducted online interviews with prominent eco-activists and published articles as International Biology Ambassador the Young Scientist Journal.

Aside from my love for biology, I am an avid musician. I am a South-Indian classical musician trained in both Carnatic vocal, under the tutelage of Mudikondan Sri S.N Ramesh, and Nattvangum, taught by Mayuram Sri Jayshankar. I was the leader of SABRANG, the UK National Choir for Indian Music. In 2019, I was awarded Young Indian Vocalist of the Year at the National Indian Arts Awards UK. Recently, I was invited to perform a Carnatic piece at the prestigious Sheldonian Theatre, University of Oxford, for the Opening Oxford 1871 Concert in celebration of diversity and inclusion.

I am an Associate of the Royal Schools of Music in classical piano and also teaches piano from beginners to advanced level. I recently featured as the pianist for a jazz interpretation of the Tamil film song, Ey Sandakkara, in a Jamspot episode. Additionally, I am a budding composer. In 2020, I won the Leonardo Da Vinci Carano Award, an international award for Music and Climate Activism, for my fusion composition.

Services

I am happy to teach students of all abilities on Zoom or in person in my purpose-built studio. By incorporating various teaching methods and platforms (including use of technology), I aim to give students a holistic understanding of biology or music. I tailor each lesson to the student's personal needs and will combine different aspects of the subject and relevant course within the lessons; this broadens the student's understanding of this wonderful field of knowledge. I believe that engaging students in discussions, interactive activities and practice questions will strengthen their scientific foundations and help them achieve the grades they desire. Through teaching, I hope to share my notorious passion and love for biology and music with my students! I am also able to provide advice and support for university applicants; particularly regarding personal statements and interviews.

My studio is now open for students!

I only teach during vacation periods. I offer lessons from the June to the end of September. Having lessons during this period of time is extremely beneficial for students as it allows them to reconsolidate what they have learnt so they are put in good stead for the public examinations. This period of time is also crucial for university applicants.Piano workshops and masterclasses will consist of two/three day-long sessions focussing on a particular area of music (e.g. exam preparation, performance, composition etc). The topic will depend on the student(s)'s interests. I am also happy to support KS3 and GCSE music students in aspects of the course that they may struggle with/want to improve upon.
