Hi I'm Steph,

I've been pre-dominantly teaching A Level English for the last 9 years, and tutoring GCSE and A Level English for the last 4 years. During this time I've taken on larger co-ordinator roles to plan specifications and guide other teachers, so I am secure in my content knowledge for all the English variations and specfications. I currently lead the A Level English teaching in my college and have significantly improved the results since I joined.

I love my subject, to the point where I'm currently studying a Master's degree in English alongside my teaching job, and means you will see my genuine enthusiasm and dedication for the subject.

As a teacher and tutor my aim is to make sure the student feels as secure as possible. It's vital the student feels comfortable with learning and doesn't feel concerned about getting things wrong to get them right. Working on small areas can make a big difference, and I like to reassure students by identifying key areas of focus that will help them with the bigger exam technique. 

I take a calm, reassuring and practical approach to tutoring and I'm happy to be guided by the student in terms of content to help them overcome any obstacles and ultimately help them to achieve the best results. 

I have a clear knowledge of exam board papers and assessment objectives, I've marked for both Edexcel and AQA and taught on both these specs for Literature and Language. 

I have full, cleared DBS certificate that can be viewed on first meeting.

I offer hourly online sessions either online or in person (doubles can be arranged as/when suitable).  

Happy to support class work, revisit texts, refine skills or essay writing. I will talk to the student to create a short and long term plan for tutoring and ensure clarity on desired outcomes.
