I’m a creative, inspirational and passionate English tutor, with 15 years’ teaching and tutoring experience. I tutor face-to-face and online, with enthusiasm, good humour, patience and passion.
I am familiar with KS3, GCSE and A level English curricula and exam boards. My first degree - BA (English Honours) – incorporates English Language and Literature. I have a passion for poetry, love for Shakespeare and publish my very own creative short stories and travel articles too
My second degree – Diploma of Education (Honours) - includes modules in KS3 and GCSE Maths, GCSE Drama and GCSE Politics, which I also offer to students.
I write and deliver all of my own lessons, set weekly homework challenges and offer clear and constructive progress feedback after each tutorial.
Prior to one-to-one tutoring, I delivered small courses of tuition in local primary and secondary schools in the West Midlands on selected days throughout the academic terms.
DBS protected and Safeguarding Certified
I usually tutor face-to-face in students’ homes, but in these surreal and unprecedented times I have temporarily switched to online lessons. I’m tutoring on all of the main platforms – including Skype, Zoom and the only platform that hasn’t yet cut out, or malfunctioned, Google ‘hangout’!
I am registered with a June 16th 2020 DBS Enhanced Certificate (001701137011) and am also on the annually updated DBS registration service.
I recently completed a new Safeguarding Course.
A trio of current testimonials
I have had a number of recent successes which I detail below.
I’m happy to provide local references, both from current and previous parents.
TESTIMONIAL ONE:
A LEVEL ENGLISH STUDENT: Lizzie Mitchell
Stuart is the most articulate person I have ever met. His passion and enthusiasm for English is just outstanding - he manages to make even the dullest plays ?(eg Arcadia) seem exciting and made me enjoy my English lessons rather than making them seem like a chore.
I managed to achieve a grade A in the face of adversity and have no doubt that without him I wouldn't have been able to do so. I don't feel like words can do him justice - he really is an amazing tutor and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Good luck with your new job and new tutees; I know they'll all do fabulously!
Best wishes,
Lizzie
TESTIMONIAL TWO:
PARENT: James Mulchinock
Hi Stuart
Aoife got 2 8s in her English results which were her two best scores. She was over the moon and thank you for everything you did, you definitely improved her scores by tutoring her.
Thanks again
James, Laura and Aoife

TESTIMONIAL THREE:
GCSE STUDENT Matthew Wills
Dear Stuart,
We hope you are well.
I have been to get my GCSE results today and thought you would like to know that I got 7's in both English literature and English language.
Thank you so much for all your help, it really made a huge difference, without you I don't think this would have been possible.
All good wishes
Matthew
